Touring Tires
Vittoria has a new tire called the . For those of you who have ridden the randonneur, you know that it is a long wearing and almost puncture-proof tire at the cost of heavy weight, poor roadfeel, and poor grip especially when wet.
I just bought a pair of the hypers in a 40x700c and my bike feels totally different. I'm a lot faster accelerating, the ride is a ton smoother, and cruising speed is a couple mph higher too. Also the road grip seems to be better, I don't know if that's just because the rubber is fresh and they're going to wear out quicker, but so far they have been a fantastic tire. I guess I'll post if I ever get a flat (I got one in two years on the randonneur pros: construction staple through the tread and through the opposite sidewall.)
I would recommend for any long haul trucker mother fucker or anyone else with a frame in which fatties fit fine.
