Anybody have experience with quad cranksets? I'm looking to get the gearing on my tandem even lower after wearing myself out on some of the hills on Ben Country.

So far, I've found the , which looks promising. Anything else out there that might be better?

I think he went back to a triple after a few years.

What gearing do you have? I did a lot of loaded tandem touring with 50/38/24 chainrings and a 12-32 cassette including some crazy ass climbs (and it was a recumbent, so we couldn't stand). There were times when we wished for a slightly lower gear, but never for a quad ring setup.

I think the Avid Microdapter can also be used to do a 4-ring setup, but I never tried it beyond proof of concept phase. The Microdapter allows you to mount a 58mm BCD ring where a 74mm BCD ring was. That would let you run something nutty like 20/30/40/50 chainrings.
