Scenic Beach State Park report Fix it, repair it, how do I do it, what's the best part to use, and now: how do I get there?

As requested, here's what I found out about Scenic Beach State Park, specifically the group camping area.

There's plenty of room, including tent room and lots of trees to hang hammocks from. There's also a semi-enclosed but roofed bunkhouse-type shelter (Adirondack) on the east side with 8 bunks.

The group site is in a separate loop from the regular camping site and fairly removed, particularly if you congregate in the lower area near the beach (which everyone does, since that's where the amenities like the fire ring are); the other camping loop is up the hill.

You could run a dangerous crit on the paved group site loop. Think of the lulz.

The main fire ring and the cooking shelter seem kind of small for 50ish people (but there are at least 2 other fire rings I found, including one next to the cooking shelter). There are a number of tables apart from the 3 at the shelter, as well as the big open grassy area. Spigot but no sink. If someone wants to create a gigantic feast, I suggest reserving the huge day use picnic shelter, which is just to the west of the group site. It has a sink, electricity, lots more grills and gobs of picnic tables nearby. You can surely use it in the morning, anyway, since even on Memorial Day no one showed up from outside the park until around 10am.

Nothing is sold on site; you're supposed to stock up at Seabeck (about 2 miles outside the park), which has a general store. I think the better route from Bremerton bypasses Seabeck, though:



Andre did the bit up to Wildcat Lake. I did the bit from Lake Tahuyeh Road on. There's a bit of a hill between, but the bit I did was pretty low-traffic (and downhill) and the alternative (Seabeck Hwy all the way) seemed much more heavily traveled. There are a couple of mini-marts near the turnoff from Holly to Seabeck Holly Rd. that might have last minute supplies (it's basically all downhill from there), and if they don't, you can go into Seabeck.
