So I just killed the rack on my utility bike. I typically use those baskets for groceries, and sometimes beer. Which is also a grocery.

Since it's my "lock outside" bike, I want something cheap, like less than $40. Weight's not important, but sturdiness is.
Recommendations?

Where did the rack fail? I'd be interested in it for a project I have in mind, depending on where the break is.

In the third picture, you can see where I stuck a magazine subscription card in the rack - there should be a weld between the bar thing that goes around the top and the stay that goes down to the dropout. That weld failed.
