a frame!

-steel
-effective top tube length c-c at least ~59mm
-not track aggressive, not f'n mtb/beach laidback
-horizontal dropouts
-cantilever/v/u-brake studs for 26"/700c wheels
-fits at least 35's w/o fenders
-nice seatstay joints
-could reliably cold set dropout hub clearance to 110mm, unless there's some other process that's not that hard
-bottom bracket fit standard for components that'll be easy to get after 5 years

shot in the dark first : a 40 spoke, 26" (559mm BSD), Al rim

and a front 26" (559mm) Al wheel that
-has an inside rim width, bead-bead, of like 25-28mm, or can take like 35's to 40's
-normal lacing, so like 3 cross single lacing,
-an outer locknut face-outer locknut face dimension ~90mm, not 100
-if not cartridge bearings, cones for any of these axle threads: 9mm X 1.0, 10mm X 1.0, 10mm X 26 tpi, 3/8" X 26 tpi, 3/8" X 24 tpi
-decent dust seals, so they can be metal if they're not really warped

TLDR; a normal 26" front wheel in serviceable condition

If you need a temporary replacement you can have my large timbuk2 messenger bag circa 2007 (even has a shoulder pad!). It's been sitting in my basement and has a pretty gross mildew smell but it might just need to be thrown in an side-loading washing machine for a cycle.

Long shot: I am looking to buy one 8 mm insert for my Ortleib pannier.

Rather than buy the Ortlieb replacement kits that cost $11, I'm wondering if you have recently purchased a pannier and have one extra.

What's wrong with wrapping that part of the rack with inner tube and duc-PS:any-tape? Those things never snugly fit anyways. It's especially nice with an aluminum rack that whittles away like a sandcastle in a short matter of time.
